President and Editor-in-Chief
James Burk founded MarsNews.com in March of 1999 as a news and information
resource covering all aspects of the planet Mars. An Internet pioneer
and professional software developer, Burk designed and
developed the visual elements of the website and developed the site's custom
backend software -- creating a complete News Database covering Mars missions and stories back to 1996
and providing many innovative services to its readers.
Burk is a longtime Mars activist, serving as President of the Seattle, WA chapter of
the Mars Society. Burk has written articles about space science and investigative reports on NASA
that have appeared in online journals.
In 2002, MarsNews.com launched its own Internet radio program, Radio Free Mars,
with Burk as Host and Executive Producer. The program has interviewed many newsmakers in the
field of Mars exploration and space science.
Burk is a Program Manager for Microsoft Corporation and has been responsible for various projects within the
Office, Windows, and MSN divisions of Microsoft. Burk has also worked on various
personal and professional Internet projects since the early nineties.
Burk graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor's
degree in Computer Science and Business Administration (dual major) and
a minor in Journalism & Communications.
Vice President, News Division and News Editor
Dustin Green is the Vice President and News Editor of MarsNews.com and works as an
engineer for Olympic Medical. As head of the News Division, he is responsible for quality control over the news presented by MarsNews.com.
In October 1999, Green began maintaining the daily NewsWire on MarsNews.com and is a regular contributor to
Radio Free Mars, handing the duties for the regular news segment of that broadcast.
Green graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Green is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and also served as President of the
Mars Society's Seattle chapter. He also served on the team of the Raven Human-Powered Airplane.
