A bid to get the nation talking about the UK’s role in exploring Mars was being launched today, in the wake of the failed Beagle 2 probe’s apparent disappearance. Mars, the frozen Red Planet, is named after the Roman god of war. Of all the planets in the solar system, it is said to be the one that offers the best prospect of discovering extraterrestrial life.
