Greetings from Mars! Well, our stay here at the Mars Desert Research Station is winding down. We soon will be relieved by Dr. Bill Clancey and his crew from NASA. We have accomplished a great deal during our rotation, in spite of our rocky, low-powered start. One of our more interesting observations here in southern Utah is the wide variety of Mars-like terrain. We have taken this fact and made one of our tasks documenting Mars-like sites that look similar to those seen in the images returned from the NASA Mars rovers.TrackBack URL for this entry:

Though it is a good analogy for the soil it however is not for the temperatoure that are experineced on Mars. Maybe a biosphere dome at this location, climite controled to that of Mars would also yield valueable Mars like data.

I meant to say year round for the temperature.
Also the Photo's of this article and of the one above are great with the details of the suits that they are using.
I found it interesting in the recycling of water used in showers and making it available for reuse in flushing toilets. That it always grew too much algae when placed in storage. They are trying to solve this by using bacteria in the water that will dissolve the soap and stop the algea from growing.
Does any one know if algea is a good Oxygen creator?
