Mars and the Teachable Moment

Posted by tourdemars to Face On Mars at May 6, 2004 09:08 AM

We’re back on Mars with Spirit and Opportunity roving the surface and engaging the public in the search for evidence of water. Overhead, orbiters image the surface in exquisite detail. People worldwide are attentive to Mars -- it can even be easily seen in the evening sky with the naked eye. All of this makes Mars the logical focus for teaching science as a part of current events, and for dealing with pseudoscientific claims about Mars.

This article is rediculous. Having material like this in an article is a farse. They havent recently taken pictures of the area. One important thing to see when looking at the "face" is to look at the outline, and not that it is a face. The fact is that there looks like something underneath that dusty mound, and it could possibly be a face. I read an article about a month ago written by one of the high officials at NASA. He tried to put truth to the so-called misleadings of Richard Hoagland. Every argument that he brought about did not contradict the findings among many mysteries including the "face." In fact it only made it look like they were covering something up, and alot of fellow readers wrote comments beleiving the same thing I did. Richard Hoagland's Pseudo-science is so far below NASA'S agenda so why even bother to get angry at something that is fiction. It doesnt make sense.
