Fly Like an Eagle

Our neighboring planets may someday be explored by aircraft with no motors or jets or props, but with solar-powered wings that flap and soar like an eagle.

There were a couple of planes and balloons in the running to explore mars but they were not selected. Instead landers and rovers were the choices made.
