Signs of past water on the surface of Mars just keep getting clearer, with new discoveries from both NASA rovers. Spirit has discovered hematite, an iron mineral that is usually formed in water. It is abundant at Opportunity's site, but not seen before on the other side of the planet. Opportunity, meanwhile, has extended its evidence of water further back in time, through possible past cycles of wet and dry climate.TrackBack URL for this entry:

Dale Constable: asked a very important question? Has anyone asked a marine bioligist to look at the at Meridiani Planum site? He suggested based on his own collection that the rock could be fossilized sea coral!
Does Nasa even have anyone from there other facilities that is an oceanographer as part of the team. Since the main objective was to prove the existence of water I would have thought that this would be a must not just geologists.
