A mere five years ago, Bigelow, owner of the Budget Suites of America hotel chain, announced his intention to get into the space race. Not many people paid attention, or gave him much of a chance. But 16 months from now, Bigelow's first creation is scheduled for blast-off into a low orbit above the earth. If it works as planned, the development of space will never be the same.TrackBack URL for this entry:

Mr. Bigelow should remember the sad lesson LunaCorp had when they finally agreed to take NASA on board in the early 1990's as they we about to launch a Lunar Orbiter...result...it's still a pile of paper on a drawing board and a few disjointed metalic components that may never see Lunar Orbit. NASA lies. THAT has been proven time n time again. NASA FOUGHT and DENIED American Denis Tito access to SAFETY training for crying out loud! NASA has yet to SHOW me through ACTIONS it has changed. We're still grounded, still depending on the Russians for space access and also space suits aboard the ISS.
ACTIONS speak louder than words.
ACTIONS are PROOF of intent.
ACTIONS are the final judgement of character.
It REALLY is that simple.

I think you are dead right to caution bigelow with regardds to Nasa Partnerships.
Nasa's own mistakes of the 80's, 90's and in this current century. It's past has been marred with failed rocket designs, the space shuttles distuctions and the looming cost over runs on multiple projects. They themselves are the only ones to blame for the publics perception of this agency.
Nasa needs to show real proof of change before additional funding for the Space Exploration Vision will take place.
Nasa's own people know the truth. Some have even come out of the closet in so much as to say so on the editorial pages of the Florida times, the NasaWatch comment logs and onto numerous web blogs.
This watch may be ticking but it is still broken.

Sounds like a genuine lump of administrative cancer embedded in a fortress of pork rinds. It's self protecting and force fed with tax dollars. I'm suprised that there was not more resistance to Space Ship One. Serious surgery needs to be performed to replace the pork with grey matter and fortitude and cause NASA to facilitate private space travel rather than hinder it or absorb it.
